Range of Services and Amenities

The Town Council provides a range of services and amenities that are aimed at making the town a pleasant place to live and work in. These include:

Allotments - restricted to Howden residents, and managed by the Tenants Association; for information contact Mrs Pat Blee on 01430 430201

Management of the cemetery at Knedlington Road through a joint committee with Asselby Parish Council. Please email Howdenjbc@howden-tc.gov.uk

'Visit Howden' Project An online information hub for all things Howden. Please visit http://www.visithowden.co.uk

Christmas lights - the Councillors put up the Christmas lights in the town for all to enjoy.



Flowering planters and hanging baskets - each year the Town Council pay for a contractor to install and maintain all the flowering planters and hanging baskets across the town.

Grounds maintenance - this includes the Minster grounds including the graveyard, and various areas of open green space in and around the town

Howden Marsh Local Nature Reserve - volunteers welcome with a new 'Friends of Howden Marsh' group recently formed. Please email clerk@howden-tc.gov.uk if you are interested.

Litter clearing and street sweeping - The Town Council employ a roadsweeper to keep the streets of Howden looking clean and tidy.

Snow and ice clearing equipment - if you are interested in helping as a volunteer please contact the Clerk

The Town Council also gives financial support to other providers of services in the town such as the Ashes Playing Field Trust, The Shire Hall Trust, Howden Show and Howdenshire Music among others as part of the Town Council's grants programme.
